Lomonosov (formerly known as Oranienbaum) is a City of 40,000 located about 25 miles west of St. Petersburg, Russia on the Gulf of Finland. Lomonosov was founded in 1711, just eight years after the founding of St. Petersburg. The establishment and growth of Oranienbaum was tied closely with the royal Romanov family. The famous Menshikov Palace is located in a spacious park in Lomonosov.
